St. Francis Medical Center’s Thanksgiving Collection Captures Creativity & Spirit of Giving
Nov 30, 2018 | St. Francis News
As in years past, St. Francis Medical Center’s annual Thanksgiving Collection was a wonderful opportunity for employees, physicians, and volunteers to give thanks to this community, which we have called home for 73 years. All of the departments collected donations from staff for the purchase of grocery store gift cards. The grocery store cards were provided to families in our surrounding neighborhoods that needed a little extra help to buy a turkey and trimmings for the Thanksgiving holiday. This season’s collection totaled more than $4,200. It inspired so much goodwill that a grateful patient’s family member ran out to his car to retrieve his wallet and contributed $60. Through everyone’s generosity, we were able to provide 53 families with gift cards this holiday. A hallmark of our health care team was their creativity as they handcrafted the collection envelopes to express how grateful they were to be able to celebrate this “Season of Thanks” with our community.
