Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories

Symptoms like chest pain, shortness of breath or lower-than-normal energy may be due to a cardiovascular problem. Our cardiologists and electrophysiologists use the cardiac cath labs to diagnose abnormalities like blocked arteries, heart rhythm and valve disorders.

St. Vincent Medical Center was the first hospital in Los Angeles to offer transesophageal echocardiography, a non-invasive way for cardiologists to view the beating heart.

If you require further diagnostic testing, you will be seen in the Cardiac Cath Lab.

We will assess your heart function and the condition of your entire cardiovascular system and treat you accordingly. If necessary, your physician may need to take you to the Cardiac Catheterization Clinic where a variety of tests or procedures may be performed, including:

  • Pacemaker implant
  • Electrophysiology Study
  • Angiography with or without Vascular Stenting
  • Radiofrequency Ablation—The use of radiowave energy to modify the heart’s electrical circuits
